THE BALL PLAYER

I had been waiting 11 days while he was on the road. A text comes through… ting!

4:51 a.m. : Finally back.

I went back and forth and back and forth about responding. I didn't respond. It was too late. Had it been like an hour earlier I might have considered it. See in my head it had all been planned out... I needed more than 4:51 a.m. to noon -per say. I had needed all evening, all night, all morning ....and if I had my way ... a few days. For me, waking up to a morning text from him was everything. It means I'm on his mind first thing when he wakes.I never fell back asleep. It was a slow Tuesday at work and we had been texting each other since he woke back up that afternoon. He asked me if I was going to be working, because minus a few workouts, he was free and wanted to come see me at my job. Elated, I told him "yes, I'm working now... come see me, I will feed you and get you drunk". A few hours later as the sun was setting on all the sky rises and condos in the city (we had the most beautiful view of the city) in he walks... so tall, handsome, he just looked like he smelled... good. His clothes were always brand new, as if he never wore the same pair of socks or underwear twice, hair always freshly cut, beard, skin smooth. It was pure carnal for me, I wasn’t asking him questions about philosophy. Maybe it was the lack of sex I was getting at the time, idk. I don't know... but the physicality was real... as real as the love I shared with a man I was spiritually in love with. As I approach the hostess stand I see him being a gentleman, holding the door for this....his...date? Some stunning female whom he puts his hand around her waist and kindly ask the hostess to sit at my bar. I learned in that moment, sometimes we react to situations the way we believe we should and not how we really feel. I “should” have been pissed! But, in all honesty, I was turned on. They sat. They ate. They drank. They flirted... with each other... with me. After getting through an interesting dinner serving "my man" and his date & now apparently or assumingly my date for the evening as well, he said they would be back to get me once I was off of work and then left me a 500 cash dollar tip.
